What Convicts Can Teach Us About Brandiing

In this article, a convict would buy products and repackage them with a better design and would sell it for more money. Although what Neil did was wrong, he displayed how much power designers actually have. The fact that he can sell a product that was a dollar for 5 dollars because the package that it came in is redesigned is amazing. Many people do not realize that they purchase products that look better on the outside, when in reality it is the same thing as poorly packaged product. Are they paying for the product or the design? It amazes me that designers have the power to make people chose a certain product over the other when its practically the same product.

Hillary's Logo

In my opinion, I strongly believe Hillary's logo is fantastic. Although her logo is attracting a lot of negative comments, I feel that its simple, sweet and gets right to the point. As the article stated, her new logo is memorable and gets her message across without having to think too deeply into it. When running for president I believe the logo one chooses should be easy to read and understand. Hillary exercises her belief in the quote "simplicity is more" and I couldn't agree anymore.

Favorite logo

One of my favorite logos is the NBA logo. I love the use of the gestalt technique called closure. I really admire how it uses negative space to create the image. The man with the ball isn't really there but the design tricks our mind into thinking he's there. In my opinion it is great design. I also really enjoy the color scheme. The colors are bright and contrasting which makes it stand out and easy to see. I truly believe this logo gets its message across in a cool, unique way.

Montygog Interview

I personably thought the interview was awesome! I really like Dave's style of illustration and how he got to where he is today. He's done work for some shows I really enjoy. I also love how he stresses the importance of originality. In the article he states how critical it is to find your own unique style by taking in your influences and essentially creating your own style.

How to Ruin a Great Design by Alice Rawsthorn

The article, "How to Ruin a Great Design" by Alice Rawsthorn, displays numerous examples of bad designs ranging from street signs on the side of the road to famous company logos. Rawsthorn stresses the importance of good design and how it should be consistent, appealing to the eye, legible and so on. For instance, Rawsthorn critiques a yellow and black road sign that says "Diverted cyclists" with a picture of a bicycle and an arrow. Rawsthorn wonders how anyone could have messed up a design as easy as that one. Rawsthorn continues by saying that the letter "D" on the sign is too large in comparison to the remaining letters and that in turn it distracts viewers by pulling their attention away from the words. I strongly agree with Alice Rawsthorn in her article. I am a firm believer in promoting the importance of good design as it can help in several situations. For example, in the case of the article, if the "Diverted cyclists" sign was a good design, perhaps viewers would be able to distinguish what the message of the sign is trying to point out, but since it is a poor design viewers are distracted by the large "D" that they pass the sign not even knowing what it meant which can lead to accidents in the future.

For some reason he decided to take a different path than usual and in the distance he seen a glowing substance coming from the ground. He ran towards it to see what it was since he was curious, but extremely scared at the same time. While Eric was running towards the foreign substance, he tripped on a log and fell into the hole where the glowing, green substance was in. It turned out to be radio active waste and Eric emerged from the hole in the ground with the ability to fly. Eric spent the rest of his life flying through the woods. The end.
